About this document
This document will assume that you have installed Skype from http://skype.com. If you have not, please download, install, and setup an account with the Skype client.
This document also assumes that you have downloaded and installed Growl. You can download Growl from Our downloads page. Should you need more information on installing Growl, this page should help.
Enabling Skype with Growl
In general Skype should not need any configuration to work with Growl. You may need to check a box in Skype's advanced preferences, and that should be it.
Should you need to enable Growl in Skype, you would do this in the Skype advanced preferences. It is the bottom checkbox, as shown in this screen shot:
Using Skype with Growl
Growl can notify you of many Skype related activities once everything is setup. Below is a small sampling of this, with screenshots. You can click on the screen shots to make them bigger.
Here we have Growl notifying that someone is requesting authorization.
Growl also notifies you when someone comes online, and offline
When Skype is in the background, you can be notified of new instant messages.
When a new call comes in, Growl can notify you so you do not miss it.
When you transfer a file to someone, you can be notified as well
